HOW IT ALL BEGAN
Sometimes you get to choose your beginnings.
My beginning was choosing the name Saidah when I took my Shahadah. That day was…still is… the happiest day of my life.
I was born Denise, raised Christian, grew up in the the projects of Harlem to Stanford University and I decided to study jazz vocal immediately after I graduated.
I was always searching for God, and trying to figure out being a woman in this world, and I finally found Islam.
Saidahdenise represents the past to present, lost to found and my music is everything in between.
